Some of the Reitz Wrestler's made the trip to Pigeon Forge TN on
June 2nd to wrestle in the Pigeon
Forge Summer Duals on June 3rd & 4th. The boys were able to
weigh in after a practice at the high school on Wednesday evening. To fill our team we
were given three wrestlers from Pigeon Forge but had to take forfeits at
171 & 189. Each day they wrestled three duals going undefeated for
the tourney. Derek Dowdy and Blake Rueger went undefeated as well as our
103# wrestler from PF.
Each evening the boys
and coaches had a corn
hole tournament. This was a great summer trip to get more mat
time as well as team building.
The Reitz Wrestling

we
finished 2nd in the small team division. Congrats on a great
showing and too all the competitors who made the trip.

It was another first in 34 years as the 5th ranked Reitz Panthers snuck away with a narrow victory in the annual Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Tournament at Castle High School on Saturday, January 23, 2010. The team wrestled their tails off and placed all 14 wrestlers in the top 4, even with backup James Vasquez a 189 pounder substituting at 215 lbs, earning a 4th place finish. Seven wrestlers worked their way into the finals and 4 of them took home the championship ribbon. Reitz claimed 4 champions, 3 runner-ups, 3 at third place, and 4 fourths. Congrats to the high school wrestling team on their decisive win over west side rivals and 2nd ranked Mater Dei. The panthers won by a decisive 15 points. It has been 35 years since the last time a Reitz team has beaten the Mater Dei Wildcats, winning in their gym only makes this one a bittersweet victory.
